Why the patchouli supply is tight

Indonesia supplies the lion’s share of the world’s patchouli oil and recently has seen major production drops due to unpredictable weather and crop failures. Many farmers are shifting to other crops because patchouli demands specific growing and soil-conditions that are becoming harder to meet.

With fewer harvests and higher costs the availability of high-quality patchouli oil has become more limited for natural body-care uses.

What it means for Barchouli®

We choose only the best natural ingredients and when a key material isn’t reliably available we prefer to pause the product than compromise our standards. That is why Barchouli® is not currently listed online or in stores.
