Our bar soaps are made using traditional soap-making methods, which naturally produce a mildly alkaline bar. Most true soaps, including ours, typically fall within a pH range of 8 to 10. This is normal for soap made from saponified oils and is different from synthetic detergents or liquid cleansers.
Why soap pH matters
The pH of a cleanser can affect how your skin feels after washing. While the skin’s natural pH is slightly acidic, true soap works by lifting away dirt, oil, and buildup so it can be rinsed clean.
Our recipes are balanced with nourishing oils and butters to help prevent skin from feeling overly dry or stripped after use.
Is a higher pH bad for skin?
Not necessarily. Many people use traditional bar soap daily without issue. That said, skin types vary:
- People with normal or oily skin often tolerate soap very well.
- Those with dry or sensitive skin may prefer gentler bars or follow cleansing with a moisturizer.
Choosing the right bar
If you’re concerned about sensitivity, we recommend starting with a simple, unscented bar and paying attention to how your skin feels over time.
